Mike Gin For Congress

April 18, 2011

(Redondo Beach, CA) – The Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce its endorsement of Redondo Beach Mayor Mike Gin in his bid to represent the 36th Congressional District in the US House of Representatives.

“Mayor Gin has been instrumental throughout his time as a City Councilman and as the Mayor to strengthen the backbone of our economy – small business,” stated Steve Goldstein, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce. “At a time when our economy is so fragile, we have confidence that Mayor Gin’s no-nonsense, pragmatic style of ‘right-sizing’ government and promotion of job-creating policies will help bring to Washington the prosperity he has helped bring us here in the South Bay.”

Mayor Mike Gin has excelled at leading the effort to create and retain 21st Century jobs in Redondo Beach and the South Bay. As Mayor, Gin has led efforts on a Green Task Force, a Water Quality Task Force, and led a Citizen Growth Management & Traffic Committee. With Mayor Gin’s leadership, the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce and the LA Air Force Base Regional Alliance led the fight to guarantee that the Los Angeles Air Force Base be spared from downsizing/elimination, ensuring that thousands of high-paying, technical jobs would stay in the South Bay, putting a halt to the “brain-drain” in the South Bay as the aerospace industry continues to flee California.

In a recent Chamber survey, asking members “how business friendly are our elected officials?”, under Mayor Gin’s leadership, the City scored over twice as high as state and federal officials.

“Mayor Gin’s experience in the private sector coupled with his community leadership role has made him one of our most important assets as we work to make the South Bay more business friendly,” comments Chamber CEO/President Marna Smeltzer. “Mike gets it – from the nuanced policies that affect our business’ bottom line to the big picture of globalization and competition. The South Bay and America need Mike Gin in Congress.”

The Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau is dedicated to helping local companies grow their businesses by taking the lead on programs and issues that help create a strong local economy and make our community a great place to live, work and play.
